Join us for 8 Wednesday Walkabouts Summer 2011
What:  Excursions around Lanesboro                                          Who:   For students, parents, family and friends.  Brought to you by Summer Reading, Lanesboro Summer Rec., and a generous gift of time by all local participants
Where: Meet at Lanesboro Library 1 pm
When:  Wednesday afternoons 1-4 pm, beginning June 8 through July 27
How:    Show up at the library with your library card.  Wear walking shoes.  Please have an adult accompany children under 6 years of age.  Advance sign-up on rosters at the library, appreciated, group size limited to first 25 participants.
Schedule of Events:
June 8   – meet City Administrator Bobbie Vickerman, learn about running our town, and visit the hydro-electric plant which helps provide our power

June 15 – go behind the scenes at the Commonweal Theatre and Lanesboro Art Center to expose our wide world of art

June 22 – uncover local enterprise and community service all in one block of Coffee St.  Visit Scenic Valley Winery plant, neighboring Preston Specialties, and our Volunteer Fire Dept.

June 29 – visit nearby Duschee Hills Dairy and the DNR’s Fish Hatchery

July 6    – learn about local history at the storied Lanesboro Museum

July 13  –  local agriculture, old and new are the topics as we tour Root River Ag, the historic Feed Mill, and RLH Grain Inc.

July 20  –  Model “T” madness comes to town with an antique car cruise.  We’ll intercept some owner/drivers and learn about old time transport

July 27  –  venture just outside town for a nature hike at Eagle Bluff
